Real home made Nigerian food from Old Bende. Egusi soup with ugu (vegetable), dried fish, smoked fish, stock fish, periwinkle, achi, goat meat, and other condiments such as palm oil, onions, salt, pepper, and local seasonings.
It is best for lunch and/or dinner. Served with pounded yam or garri prepared with hot water. Semolina and farina may also go with the soup. It’s highly nutritious and obviously appetizing.

Old Bende is the geo-political area under the administrative tutelage of OBLG of the former Eastern Nigeria and stretched from Arochukwu to Umuahia and included such towns as Ututu, Ihechiowa, Ohafia, Abiriba, Nkporo, Abam, Umuhu, Bende, Igbere, Item, Alayi, Ozu-item, Isiukwu-ato,
Uzuakoli, Nkpa, Umuahia, and Ikwuano.
