"Now that there is no longer corruption in the system", Onwuasoanya Jones wrote; Read More ....
We were made to believe and it is true that; Nigeria looses billions of Dollars on daily basis to corruption. We believed that when corruption is eradicated from the system, Nigeria will make boundless leaps out of poverty and into unprecedented prosperity, for all, not for the few.
This belief is why majority of Nigerians voted in President Muhammadu Buhari to take charge, because like they believed, this President detests corruption and will put his all into fighting corruption.
Close to six months after this President took power, poverty has increased, our infrastructure is experiencing its worst days and more jobs are being lost, with none being created. The same set of people who have remained wealthy and ostentatious, while the same unfortunate set have remained poor and hungry.
At least, more than US$150 Billion dollars should have been saved from blocking channels of waste and corruption in the last 150 days of President Buhari’s administration. Nigerians are not feeling the impact of these savings.
Three things are possible:
- It is either that no success has been recorded in the fight against corruption,
- The President Buhari administration has only succeeded in displacing one set of corrupt Nigerians and replacing them with another, or
- Nigerians were scammed into believing that this President will fight corruption.
Whichever is the case, it is Nigeria’s lost, but we will not lose hope, we shall continue praying and working for Nigeria’s greatness.
